DEWITT -- With many familiar events and a few new ones, this weekend’s annual DeWitt Celebration will provide a variety of activities.

“We have the car show, that usually brings a lot of people,” said Sondra Kirchhoff of the DeWitt Community Club.

The car show starts at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown DeWitt, with judging at noon.

She said a couple of other highlights for the day include the barbecue at the community center at 4 p.m., the parade at 7 p.m. and then the fireworks set for 10 p.m.

“Our fireworks are just great,” Kirchhoff said.

That day’s events conclude with a free dance with local band Open Range at the community center, she said.

“We try to get something new every year,” Kirchhoff said.

This year’s event also includes a program at the library by Sue McClain called Vintage Clothing Victorian Christmas, at 3 p.m.

“She’s something to see,” she said.
