The Community Justice task force of the Gage County MAPS Coalition is planning the third annual National Night Out in Beatrice from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Chautauqua Park.
Last year, more than 400 community members of all ages participated in dozens of activities designed to help promote positive relationships among law enforcement and the community.
National Night Out, an event held the first Tuesday of August in neighborhoods, cities, and towns across the nation, is intended to reinforce the message that our neighborhoods are safe places for children and families, and to invite community interaction with local law enforcement and other safety personnel.
Community organizations or businesses are invited to get involved with National Night Out and host a carnival-type game or activity for National Night Out participants. Examples include face painting, dart toss, relay races and others. In addition, those hosting a game or activity are welcome to host a booth to distribute information and share information on their organization.
There is no charge to businesses or organizations to host a booth at National Night Out.
To take part in National Night Out by sponsoring a game, activity or booth, contact the Gage County MAPS Coalition at 402-223-1500, ext. 1059, or e-mail tkuipers@bpsne.org.
