Jean E. Henderson, 87 years of age, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Beatrice, Neb,. passed away at the Hospice South in Fort Myers, Florida, Saturday morning, May 24, 2008. She was born on October 14, 1920, at Fowler, Kan., to Glenn and Agnes (Leslie) Botkin.
Jean and Lester J. Henderson were married on September 11, 1941, at Neosho, Mo. She and Lester moved to Beatrice from State College, Pa., in 1971, and Jean later moved to Cape Coral, Fla., in 1998. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beatrice.
Jean's survivors include her daughter, Barbara J. Larson and husband Dennis of Jacksonville, Fla.; 2 sons, James Henderson and wife Jing of Cantonment, Fla., and Randy Henderson and wife Kathy of Littleton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Dennis Larson Jr. of Fort Myers, Fla.., Christopher J. Larson and wife Mia of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Eric A. Larson and wife Kathleen of Telluride, Colo., Diana Black and husband Jeff of Oregon, Julie Hansen and husband Marty of Calif., James Henderson Jr., William Henderson, and Renee Henderson, all of Cantonment, Fla., Jeff Henderson, Jill Henderson, and Kristina Henderson, all of Littleton, Colo.; 5 great-grandchildren, Chase Ashley of Oregon, Justin Henderson and Leah Henderson, both of Littleton, Colo., and Evan Larson and Ava Larson, both of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Lucy Mae Wilson of Opelika, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Agnes (Leslie) Botkin; and husband, Lester J. Henderson (1995).
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel, Sixth and Washington streets, Beatrice, with the Rev. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating, with the family greeting friends from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln, Neb. A register book will be available for signatures from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to: rich@griffithshovendick.com.
