Florene Becker Lathen, 86, Grand Island, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the Wedgewood Nursing Home in Grand Island. Born Feb. 1, 1922, at Fairbury. Retired Fairbury city clerk.

Survivors: sons Robert Lathen of Grand Island, Clair Lathen of South Carolina, Thomas Lathen of Roland, Iowa; daughter, Virginia Fahnestock of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Florence Rall of Fairbury. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Florence Snow Becker; brother, Fred, infant sister, Irene.

Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Grand Island. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5. Memorials to the family’s choice, in care of Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home, Box 15, Fairbury, NE 68352.
