FAIRBURY - Focus was the name of the game Tuesday night for the Fairbury Lady Jeffs as they defeated visiting Wymore Southern in straight sets.
Fairbury won the match, 25-5, 25-15, 25-13.
“Our girls did a nice job of staying focused,” Fairbury coach Kristi Peterson said.
Peterson said the Lady Jeffs enjoyed their best serving night of the season, getting 93 percent of their serves in and recording 13 aces.
Mandy Osborne and Paige Pfingsten each had three ace serves to lead Fairbury.
The Lady Jeffs’ attack was balanced with Meggie Ehle and Amy Simpson leading the way with eight kills each, while KaLee Cromer added seven.
Whitney Ebke led the Lady Jeffs in set assists with 32.
Cromer had a team-high two ace blocks and Simpson led in digs with eight.
Next action for Fairbury will be Thursday in a home triangular, while Southern returns to action next Tuesday hosting DeWitt Tri County.

Linn triangular
LINN, Kan. — Hanover’s Lady Wildcats traveled to Linn Tuesday night for a volleyball triangular in which they were swept by home-standing Linn and Washington County.
The Lady Wildcats were defeated by Linn in two sets, 25-17 and 25-18, in their first match and then fell to Washington County, 25-14 and 25-20.
Hanover coach Shannon Searcey-Bussman said the Lady Wildcats played well against Linn.
“The girls played their hearts out against Linn in the first match, with excellent digging and passing,” Searcey-Bussman said.
Against Washington County, the coach said inconsistency killed the Lady Wildcats.
On the night, Allison Bruna led the Lady Wildcats with five kills and 22 digs in the two matches. Shelby Jueneman had 14 digs and Lindsey Jueneman had nine.
Next action for Hanover will be Saturday at the Marysville Invitational.
