Beatrice police arrested a man Monday night for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage boy.
On Sept. 9 at 11:38 p.m., Beatrice police were notified of a possible sexual assault on a 15-year-old boy that occurred in Beatrice.
The boy was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital where a sexual assault exam was completed. Information obtained at the time indicated that the victim went to the suspect’s house and that the two were friends.
The boy identified the suspect as Cody Haynes, 27.
Police said the boy went to Haynes’ residence on the afternoon of Sept. 9. The victim said he had been drinking alcohol prior to arriving at the residence.
The boy said he got tired and asked to lay down on the couch and said Haynes laid down next to him. He reported that Haynes then began kissing him and massaging his back, before pulling down his pants and having sexual intercourse with him.
The boy said he told Haynes to stop, but said that Haynes did not.
Haynes was contacted by police on Sept. 11 and was transported to the Beatrice Police Department. During an interview with Haynes, Haynes said that sexual intercourse had occurred with the boy as reported, but denied it was against the boy's will.
Haynes was arrested and transported to Gage County Detention Center where he was booked and lodged for first degree sexual assault.
His bond was set at $100,000 and bail was set at $50,000. Haynes is ordered to appear in court again on Oct. 3 at 9 a.m.
