A Blue Springs man was arrested Sunday on a felony warrant for possession of a firearm by a felon.
William T. Klee, 53, was arrested by Gage County Sheriff’s Office deputies after weapons were found in his home during a compliance search in August. Klee, a registered sex offender, is not allowed to own a firearm.
Klee is a truck driver and was driving out of state at the time of the search, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies were aware of his daily activities and work schedule, based on his conviction in the early 1990s for an offense against a 12-year-old girl.
During a countywide sex offender compliance check in August, several firearms were found at Klee’s residence and seized by deputies. Klee’s wife told deputies that the firearms belonged to her son-in-law. After confirming his conviction in California was a felony, an investigator with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office requested a warrant be issued for possession of a dangerous weapon by a prohibited person.
Klee was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Gage County Detention Center.
