Three area students have received nominations to attend U.S. service academies for the class entering in the fall of 2018.
U.S. service academies include the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. These academies offer a unique opportunity for motivated students to serve their country while undergoing a rigorous academic and physical regimen. In exchange for tuition, students agree to serve in the U.S. military after graduation.
“These talented young Nebraskans have demonstrated the skills and determination necessary to be the future leaders of our military, and it is an honor to nominate them to the U.S. Service Academies,” said Congressman Adrian Smith, who offered his nomination to 13 Nebraska students. “With their strong desire to serve our country, they have also shown dedication to their studies and a commitment to their communities. I know they will represent the Third District well.”
The following area students received nominations:
- Zachary Argo of Firth, son of Brian and Amy Argo, is a senior at Norris High School. He has been nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.
