A new business specializing in electronic cigarettes recently opened its doors in downtown Beatrice.

D&A Vapor has been open at 111 S. Fifth St. for nearly two months, and business owner David Devor said the business has grown at a quick pace as electronic cigarettes continue to grow in popularity.

“People are liking them a lot better than traditional cigarettes,” he said. “We have 26 flavors right now. When we get more in it usually gets pretty busy after that day.”

Also known as personal vaporizers, electronic cigarettes vaporize a flavored liquid with or without nicotine, which is added at the store.

Electronic cigarettes are available in a variety of sizes and configurations.

Devor said a good entry-level electronic cigarette setup complete with a wall charger, USB plug in and bottle of flavored juice costs $55.95.

He added electronic cigarettes are regarded as a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes and offer a wide assortment of flavor options.

“People love their nicotine,” he said. “(With electronic cigarettes) you don’t have tar, you don’t have carbon monoxide and some of those things. Most of this stuff is made of things that are already in the grocery store. People want to come in get all their juices and have all the different types.”

Devor runs the business with partner Angela Gomez. He said the current best-selling flavor at the store is Beetlejuice, which is a combination of four fruit flavors.
