A tour of the Gage County Courthouse will be held on Aug. 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m as a part of the “Tuesday Night with the Library” series.
Anyone interested should meet at the east entrance of the courthouse on the Seventh Street side.
Dave Jones, the building manager, will conduct the tour. Laureen Riedesel, a Gage County Heritage Preservation board member, will accompany the tour to provide historic information about the original use of each floor in the 1890s.
The Gage County Courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places more than 25 years ago at the time of its centennial. This tour is part of the library’s summer reading program, “Build a Better World.” The courthouse was selected for recognition as a significant example of local architecture in the ongoing celebration of Nebraska’s sesquicentennial.
