Darrell C. Cherny
Darrell Clarence Cherny, 68, of Chester, Va. passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017. Born in Beatrice, he was the son of the late Clarence L. Cherny and Lena Hobbs Cherny. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberlie Melson. He is survived by his loving wife of over 47 years, Sandra K. Cherny; his daughter, Tressa Melson and husband, Kennith; his son, Anthony "Tony" Cherny and wife, Tracey; his grandchildren, Kelsie Melson, Jacob Melson and Loralai Cherny; his brother, Robert Cherny and wife, Rebecca; his niece, Sarah Cherny; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Mr. Cherny attended Kearney State College where he met his wife, Sandra, and was married in January 1970. Darrell was an Eagle Scout working with various scouting troops. He was a current member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Va. He worked for East Coast Petroleum and retired from Baird Petroleum Construction.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, located at 820 W. Broadway in Hopewell, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell.
