Etta A. Dieken
Etta A. Dieken, 97, of Syracuse, Neb. passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse. Etta was born on April 9, 1920 in Pickrell. She was the daughter of Eilert and Mina (Wolken) Bruns. She was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pickrell.
Etta was married to Henry B. Dieken. She worked at the Beatrice State Home for several years before moving to Unadilla, Neb. in 1964. After moving to Unadilla, she worked at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln in the Food Service Department for many years. She was a member of Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse.
She is survived by her son, Norman Dieken with wife, Nancy of Nebraska City; her six grandchildren: Ashley Dieken of Lincoln, Jennifer Fidoni of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mike Gregg of Hamburg, Iowa, Larry Dieken of Lincoln, Adam Dieken of Montana and Deanna Dieken of Lincoln; her six great-grandchildren; her sister, Bernice Hale with husband, Donald of Adams; her two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bruns of Burchard and Luetta Bruns of Syracuse; as well as other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry, who died in 1992; her son, Duane Henry Dieken; and three brothers: Arnold, Harvey and John Bruns.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, with Pastor Terry Weible officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse. Visitation will be open at the mortuary from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, and on Wednesday from 9 until the time of the service.
