Jay D. Adams
Jay D. Adams, age 54 of Blue Springs, passed away on Oct. 5, 2017. He was born in Lincoln on July 16, 1963. He was a 1981 graduate of Wymore High School and obtained an associate's degree in fire science. Jay married Jennifer Sojka on Nov. 23, 1991. Jay was a firefighter with Lincoln Fire and Rescue for 27 years and was currently serving as Fire Captain at Station 7. He was a member of Christ Community Church where he served as a Bible study and Sunday School leader. Jay was very giving. He volunteered as much time as he could to helping others. This included visiting the pediatric ward at Madonna, buying swimming memberships for children, coaching youth sports and donating clothes and other items to people in need. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, hiking, biking and enhancing wildlife through conservation. In 2000, he was named Game & Parks Conservationist of the Year. He was a “closet animal lover,” enjoyed working on the farm and tending to his fruit trees and food plots. Most of all, Jay was a proud father who loved watching his sons' activities.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; sons, Cody Brown of Beatrice and Hunter and Dakota Adams of Blue Springs; mother, Lois Adams of Beatrice; grandsons, Zane and Kashton Brown; siblings, Max Adams with wife, Janet of Norfolk, Jo Ann Arington with husband, Bill of Humboldt, Rex Adams with wife, Jodi of Blue Springs, Tony Allgood with wife, Brenda of North Bend, Neb., Lisa Bautista with husband, Jesus of Tonopah, Ariz., Chris Allgood with wife, Audra of Surprise, Ariz. and Dustin Adams with wife, Jonna of Wymore; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Howard Allgood and Lyle Adams.
