Joyce M. Saathoff
Joyce May (Post) Saathoff, 81, of Beatrice died at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018. She was born on Feb. 19, 1936 to Herschel and Jennie (Shores) Post at Martell. She attended various schools through the years. She graduated from Sterling High School in May of 1954. She married Ernie L. Saathoff on June 25, 1955. She was a homemaker for several years, doing part-time cafeteria help at Holmesville School. She then went to work at the Mennonite Hospital in housekeeping. From there, she worked several years for Gartner's Plumbing and Heating. When that business closed, she went to work for Roger and Sandy Bridger at Country Lanes Keno as a bookkeeper and Keno writer. She then worked at Blue Springs Keno when Country Lanes Keno was sold. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and her flowers.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Saathoff and Randy (Missy) Saathoff, all of Holmesville; two daughters, Cindy (Paul) Shepherd of Beatrice and Cathy (Daniel) Newman of Holmesville; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Janice Schieber and Susan Burck; one brother, Daniel Post; her step-siblings, JoAnn Kropa and James Lyons; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest, who died Sept. 19, 2011; two infant sons, Rickey Lynn and Jay Lee; three sisters, Phyllis Pemberton, Sylvie Craig and Betty Frase; and three brothers, Robert, Ralph and William Post.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Stateline Church of rural Wymore on Friday, afternoon, Feb. 23, 2018 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Suzanne How officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Stateline Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 12:45 p.m. at the church on Friday. A memorial has been established to the family's choice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and at the church for one hour preceding the services on Friday. The family will meet friends and relatives at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Visit www.foxfuneralhome.net.
