Lloyd D. Lane
Lloyd D. Lane, 92, of Beatrice died at Beatrice Health and Rehab on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1925 at Crab Orchard and lived in the Beatrice area his entire life. Lloyd graduated from Beatrice High School in 1942 and shortly after entered the U.S. Army serving from Nov. 12, 1943 to Jan. 13, 1946. He served his country during WWII and was stationed in the South Pacific Theatre. He married Dorothy Coleman on March 26, 1944 at Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice. After the service, he returned home to farm until retirement.
Lloyd was a member of the Bitting-Norman American Legion post 27, the Geddes Thober VFW post 1077, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the Centenary United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Eagles Club and Sertoma Club, both of Beatrice.
Survivors include his sons, Wendell and wife, Karen, of Beatrice, Dennis and wife, Darleen, of Auburn, Kent and wife, Pat, of Beatrice and Scott and wife, Ellie, of Odell; eight grandchildren, Shauna Meerian and husband, Randy, of Gretna, Stephanie Ware and husband, Jamie, of Beatrice, Jessica Paschal and husband, James, of Auburn, Justin Lane and wife, Shayla, of Grand Island, Jason Lane and wife, Nicole, of Beatrice, Jamie Lane and fiancee, Colleen, of Beatrice, Andy Lane and wife, Allison, of Lincoln and Danelle Lane of Fairbury; his step-grandchildren, Chaunnell Kuntz of Fairbury, Toni Kuntz of Rapid City, S.D., Alisha Kuntz of Gillette, Wyo. and Lyndon Kuntz of North Dakota; 28 great-grandchildren; his sister, Marjorie Ideus of Stromsburg; his sister-in-law, Lillian Lane of Beatrice; his brother-in-law, Harold Coleman and wife, Jean, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, A. Wesley and Lois Goodale Lane; his wife, Dorothy, who died on April 28, 2014; and his brothers, Richard, Robert, Ron and Dale Lane.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, with the Rev. Mark L. Schutt officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice, with military rites provided by Bitting-Norman post 27 of the Beatrice American Legion and the Nebraska Army National Guard. A memorial has been established to the family for future designation. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from noon on Sunday until the time of the service on Tuesday.
