Lois J. Burger

Lois Jean Burger, 80, of Wilber passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at the Wilber Care Center. She born on March 4, 1937 at Beatrice and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. Lois Jean graduated from Adams High School in 1954. On Aug. 4, 1957, she married Charles Burger at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She worked for Western Electric and Russell Stover, she was a homemaker and she helped on the farm. She was a member of St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt and helped clean the church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of Wilber; her daughter, Karen Burger of Wilber; her son, Keith Burger of Beatrice; four grandchildren, Garrett, Shawn, Trenton and Colton Burger; her brother, Wayne (Dorothy) Trauernicht of Beatrice; her brother-in-law, Jim (Helen) Burger of Wilber; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Steve) George of Omaha; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Wolken Trauernicht.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt, with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery. A family prayer service will take place at 10:15 a.m. on Friday in the fellowship room of the church. A memorial has been established to St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 3 p.m. on Wednesday until 9 p.m. on Thursday, and then for one hour preceding the service at the church on Friday.
