Lucas Mac Larrington Bowers, 18, of Wilber, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 2013. He was born on Oct. 24, 1995, at Fairbury.
He attended Wilber-Clatonia schools and was a member of the 2014 Wilber-Clatonia senior class. Lucas was involved with FBLA and helped as a teacher’s aide. He was active in sports, especially football, basketball, track and baseball. He also participated in band and wrestling. Lucas had been a life guard at the Wilber swimming pool for several summers. He was a member of the Wilber United Methodist Church and was a very respectful young man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going to the lake, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his parents, Joel and Penny Bowers; Robin and Darrel Zoubek; sisters, Natalie and Alysa Zoubek; Ashley Holroyd and fiancé, Aaron Adams; Kacey Holroyd and special friend, Nick Jensen; grandparents, Delores Larrington; Kenneth and Shirley Zoubek; Marsha Bowers; Linda Hoover and Janet Thompson; great-grandparents, Earle and Mildred Tanner and Margaret Larrington; aunts and uncles, Richard and Cary Bowers; Tim and Shelly Taylor; Tami and Dale Kohmetscher; Tana and Rich Hofstetter; Dee and Irvin Kucera; Colleen and David Zoubek; Loren and Penny Thompson; David and Pam Thompson; Brad and Jolien Thompson; Candace and Tony Halter; Robert and Gwen Thompson; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Leo Larrington; Emily and Harlen Johnston; Marvin and Jo Bowers, grandfathers, Larry Larrington; Bruce Bowers and cousin, Krista Hofstetter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Sokol Hall in Wilber, with Rev. Lila Bottolfsen officiating. Burial will be at the Wilber Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the Wilber United Methodist Church. Closed casket. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home and then one hour preceding the service at Sokol Hall on Saturday. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
