Nadine Mae Mullen, 80, Beatrice died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Beatrice Community Hospital.  She was born Nov. 15, 1931, near Lone Elm, Kan.. In the eighth grade she quit school to help her parents on the farm. Nadine married Richard D. Mullen May 10, 1952, in Memphis, Tenn. They lived many places the 20 years while Richard served in the U.S. Navy, while living in Chicago she received her G.E.D. They moved back to Beatrice in 1971. Nadine had worked in the base commissary, completed flight school, and then owned a liquor store in Beatrice.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beatrice where she was on the Labels committee, and Circle 7 of the Altar Society. She enjoyed quilting, playing piano, singing, bridge, playing softball, but her family was the most important part of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Mullen of Beatrice; daughter, Denise Mullen of Spartanburg, S.C., son, Douglas Mullen and wife Diana of Durham, N.C., daughter, Lori Harder of Beatrice; nine grandchildren, Heather Mullen, Justin Mullen, Matthew Mullen and wife Brooke, Shelley Harder, Jonathan Harder, Zachary Harder, Benjamin Harder, Jacob Harder, Courtney Harder ; two great-grandsons, Alec Eggert and Kaleb Otte; brother, Donald Wiemers and wife Marcia of Beatrice; sisters, Elaine Roberts of Beatrice, Anita Hansen and husband Howard of Omaha; brothers-in-law, Charles Mullen and wife Kathy of Elon, N.C., Loren Mullen and wife Sara of Kansas City, Kan.; sisters-in-law, Joyce Mullen of Genesco, Kan., Rose Mullen of El Cajon, Calif.; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by, parents, Robert and Marie (Ubben) Wiemers; sons, James Richard (1/31/1981) and Michael Dean (11/23/2004); great-granddaughter, Alayna Grace Harder (9/7/2009); brothers, Dale Wiemers, Merle Wiemers, and a stillborn brother; sister-in-law, Kathleen Ware; brothers-in-law, John, Gerald and Robert Mullen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beatrice with Father Steven Major officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Beatrice. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel. Visitation Thursday, from 1-9 p.m., Friday, from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. at Harman-Wright Mortuary.  Memorials established to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation with the Mortuary in charge.  A guestbook is available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com.
