Roger E. Pieper

Roger E. Pieper, 76, of DeWitt was born on Feb. 8, 1942 in York to Lawrence and Laura (Sackschewsky) Pieper, and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 in Lincoln, with his family at his side.

Roger was a 1960 graduate of York High School and then went on to graduate from Ft. Dodge Iowa Community College. He was united in marriage to Elaine Duff on April 20, 1963 in DeWitt.

Roger was a department manager for Montgomery Ward in Lincoln, he owned R.P.'s Home Improvement Construction Company in Lincoln and recently worked more than 15 years for Kendall Schuster Construction in Lincoln. Roger's favorite hobby was building unique items and working with his hands. If someone showed him a picture, he could visualize how to construct it.

He is a member of the Pomme de Terre United Methodist Church in Hermitage, Mo. While living in Lincoln, Roger was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Davey.

Those left to mourn Roger's death include his wife, Elaine of DeWitt; his daughters and son-in-law, Roxann and Rich O'Hare of Raymond, Jeenene Hartung-Dirks of Ashland, Judy O'Hare of Lincoln and Ronda Pieper of Avondale, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Josh, Jesse, Avery, Caden and Elandra; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Darald Pieper of Lansing, Ill., Glen and Laura Pieper of DeWitt and Connie Pieper of Friend; as well as his nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Laura; his brother, Donald; and other relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt, with a prayer service at 9:45 a.m. Visitation took place on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Club in DeWitt. A private burial of ashes will be in the Green Bay Cemetery of Weldon, Iowa at later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed in care of the family for future designation or donor's choice.
