Ruth A. Rahe
Ruth Ann Rahe, 88, of Beatrice died at Beatrice Good Samaritan Center on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017. She was born May 14, 1929 at Friend and graduated from Friend High School in 1946. She worked for the telephone company until her marriage to Clarence Rahe on Sept. 17, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church of DeWitt. They lived and farmed northwest of Plymouth until 1957 when they moved into Plymouth. They lived in Beatrice and Colorado before moving back to Beatrice in 1993. She worked at State Federal in Beatrice, JCPenney in Loveland, Colo. and managed Lake West Apartments in Fort Collins, Colo. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and was a home health aide at the P.E.O. Home in Beatrice. She was a member of the First Christian Church (DOC) of Beatrice. She enjoyed reading, baking, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Richard Rahe and wife, Vick,i of Tulalip, Wash.; one daughter, Carol Arpke of Beatrice; four grandchildren, Jennifer Case and husband, Dereck, Robert Arpke, Heather Mullen and husband, Stephen and Anthony Rahe and wife, Jessica; four great-grandchildren, Cooper and Delaney Case, Lilly Mullen and Kadin Ruddell; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Shutts of Swanton; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Wear Shutts; her husband, Clarence, who died on Jan. 10, 2016; her son-in-law, Joseph Arpke; brother, Don Shutts; two brothers-in-law, Ernest Rahe and wife, Alberteen and Edwin Rahe and wife, Tahlida; four sisters-in-law, Louise Rahe, Leona Deke and husband, Gilbert, Velma Mares and husband, Joe and Verna McIntyre and husbands, John Genrich and Arnold McIntyre.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church (DOC) of Beatrice, with the Rev. David A. Bigley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the church parlor on Monday. A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at the church for one hour preceding the services on Monday.
