Sterling – The Deer Creek Sodbusters are sponsoring their fifth annual antique tractor drive on Saturday, June 1.
This year, the tractorcade will begin and end at the Deer Creek show grounds south of Sterling. From there, the convoy of antique tractors will take country roads to Crab Orchard and then to Filley, where it will stop for lunch.
After lunch, the tractorcade will proceed to Adams where it will make a drive through at Gold Crest nursing to provide residents a walk down memory lane. From there, it will proceed to the town of Sterling on its last leg back to the Deer Creek show grounds.
Residents and neighbors of the towns along the route are invited to come out and greet the tractorcade and view what is expected to be a great lineup of antique tractors.
Antique tractor collectors and enthusiasts are invited to join the Sodbusters in the drive -- either from the start or fall in line along the way. Those interested may call Bill Truscott at 402-866-2114 or 402-988-8284 or Robert Wolff at 402-866-2122 for further information on the planned route and schedule.
Drivers must be at least 16 years of age and experienced at safely operating a tractor. Rubber tired tractors only are allowed on the drive. Tractors must be capable of maintaining a speed of at least 7 mph. SMV signs are required for all tractors and no riders are allowed on tractors.
