Nebraska is home to eight of the U.S.'s largest cooperative businesses, according to the latest annual report from the National Cooperative Bank.
The NCB Co-op 100 list ranks the top co-ops in the country based on revenue. Ag Processing Inc., an Omaha-based agriculture co-op, was the largest in Nebraska and 11th largest in the country with $3.4 billion in revenue in 2016. That was down sharply from $4.35 billion in 2015 and $5.1 billion in 2014, reflecting the continuing decline in farm income.
With $1.2 billion in revenue in 2016, FCS America, which is also based in Omaha, ranked 40th, up from 71st in 2015.
Other Nebraska co-ops that made the NCB list and their rankings were: Central Valley Ag Cooperative of York, 42nd; Livestock Producers Marketing Association of Omaha, 43rd; Aurora Cooperative Elevator Co., Aurora, 54th; Farmers Cooperative, Dorchester, 73rd; Frenchman Valley Farmers Cooperative, Imperial, 82nd; Cooperative Producers Inc., Hastings, 94th.
CHS Inc., with more than $30 billion in revenue, was the largest co-op on the list. You can see the full ranking at: https://ncb.coop/ArticleDocuments/250/NCB-Co-op-100-2017-Web.pdf.aspx?Embed=Y.
