The city of Beatrice Board of Public Works offers our utility customers the convenience of online utility payments through our partnership with Xpress Bill Pay.

This service not only gives customers the ultimate flexibility when it comes to paying their bills, but also helps the city reduce administrative costs.

Customers can receive and pay their bills online and view their billing history. Currently, approximately 15 percent of customers have gone paperless and have their monthly bill sent to their email, and 20 percent of revenue is received through online payments.

Wouldn’t you like to help us reduce costs and make paying your utility bill easier? The service through Xpress Bill Pay is free and simple to use, you just need access to the internet and an email address.

Go to and click on “sign up.” Enter your email address and your own unique password and complete the short registration form. You will need to select your billing organization, which is the Beatrice Board of Public Works, and enter your account number, which would be your utility billing account number, and yes, you can enter multiple utility billing account numbers under one Xpress Bill Pay account.

By setting up this account, you will have your utility bill, including electric and water meter readings and monthly usage, plus two years of history, at your fingertips any time of day. Using this history, you can compare your current bill to the previous month, or previous year, so you can track expenses and monitor your usage.

To go paperless and have your monthly utility bill only emailed to you, simply click the paperless button on. Then, on the day bills are processed, you will receive an email notification that your statement is available to view online and you will no longer receive a bill in the mail.

Online payment of your utility bill is under your control and Xpress Bill Pay offers several flexible options. Payments are in real-time and posted the same day you make your payment or set your payment date. You decide whether to make your own payment each month or set up an Auto Pay that will pay on a specific day of the month. For example, two days before the delinquent date, just set it and forget it.

Payments you make online record the time of day the payment is made, so please note that if you are set for shut-off at 10 a.m., we will know the exact time you made the payment.

You can pay by credit card, debit card or checking account, and you can store these various pay methods on your online account. It is your responsibility to monitor the expiration date on your credit cards, however, Xpress Bill Pay will notify you via email 90, 60, and 30 days in advance of your credit card expiring.

Xpress Bill Pay ensures that your account and payment information are securely encrypted and in compliance with all industry security standards.

And yes, there is an app for that. At this time, it is available only for iOS devices, and it is free to download from the App Store for a convenient and fast way to pay your bill on your iPhone from anywhere.

If you need assistance in setting up your online Xpress Bill Pay account, please feel free to contact anyone at our billing office by calling 402-228-5211, then press 1 for utility billing. Even if you do not use auto pay, consider setting up an account to go paperless and be able to view your utility bill information and quickly make a utility payment anytime from anywhere.
