The Southeast Community College baseball team split a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend at Christensen Field in Beatrice.
On Saturday, the Storm came from behind in the first game to force extra innings and eventually beat Iowa Central 4-3 in nine innings.
SCC scored a run in the first inning, but Iowa Central came back with two runs in the fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning.
The Storm was down 3-1 going into the seventh inning. They were able to load the bases when Grant Van Scoy came through with a game tying two-RBI single.
SCC scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to win 4-3. Van Scoy had three hits, two RBI's and a run scored in the game. He also walked one. David Fleita had a hit and two RBIs and Wyatt Meyer had two hits.
Trey Kissack pitched the first four innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits while striking out four and walking four. Gavin Gragg pitched three innings, giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out two and walking one. BJ Sparks picked up the win, pitching the final two innings and giving up no runs on three hits while striking out three and walking one.
SCC dropped the second game of Saturday's doubleheader 2-1. All three runs of the game came in the fourth inning.
SCC out-hit Iowa Central 5-3 in the loss. Van Scoy had two of those hits for the Storm while Nolan Meyer had a double.
Matt Perry was the losing pitcher, pitching four innings and giving up two earned runs on one hit while striking out three and walking four. Joseph Vargas and Ruben Ramirez combined to pitch the final three innings, giving up no runs.
The Storm opened up Sunday's doubleheader with a 6-2 win. While trialing 2-1, SCC scored three runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning for the win.
SCC had 10 hits in the game, including two each from Wyatt Meyer, Justin Lott and Chris Cornish. Cornell's two hits were a double and a home run while Wyatt Meyer had a double.
Kayleb Sanderson notched the win for SCC, pitching six innings and giving up two earned runs on five hits while striking out four and walking none. Nate Lorenzen pitched a perfect seventh inning.
SCC dropped the final game of the series 13-6. They fell behind 4-0 early, but eventually got within one run at 6-5. Iowa Central scored three runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the seventh inning for the win.
Van Scoy had two hits including a double and three RBI's. Cornell had two hits and two walks while Wyatt Meyer and Chris Cornish had a double each.
Jonny Reyes took the loss, pitching two innings and giving up four runs on four hits while striking out four and walking three. Two of the hits he allowed were home runs.
Seven different SCC pitchers combined to pitch the rest of the game.
Prior to the series with Iowa Central, SCC traveled to Concordia, Kan. on Wednesday and dropped a 14-11 decision to Cloud County Community College.
The Storm baseball team is now 15-10 on the season. They will be in action again this weekend when they travel to Harrison, Ark. to face North Arkansas in a three game series.
SCC will be at home again on Thursday, March 30 with they host a doubleheader with Midland JV. Those game are slated for 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. They then host Highland Community College on Tuesday, April 4 at 1 p.m.
