ODELL -- Diller-Odell was able to build a lead in the second quarter and maintain in Friday night against Sterling.

The Griffins defeated Sterling 47-32 at Diller-Odell High School.

With the win, the Griffins improve to 3-1 on the season while the Jets fall to 1-3.

The Jets were able to jump out to an early 4-0 lead after baskets from Treygan Keeler and Ben Hier, but Diller-Odell's William McLaughlin answered with a jumper and a fast break lay-up off a steal to make it 4-4.

Peyton Mohr then hit a three pointer and Jesse Scheele made a free throw to complete the 8-0 run and make it 8-4.

Hier finally ended the run with two free throws for the Jets. Bryston Warren then scored on a put back basket for the Griffins to make it 10-6. Logan Jasa ended the first quarter scoring with two free throws to make it 10-8.

Warren opened the second quarter with a three pointer and Mohr followed that up with a take to the basket, making it 15-8.

Sterling's Cameron VanGroningen answered with a basket, but Shane Sutton came back with a basket for the Griffins to make it 17-10.

Trace Dirks then scored on a jump shot and followed that up with a free throw to make it 17-13, but the Griffins would end the scoring in the first half with a basket from Arnold and two free throws from Scheele to make it 21-13 at half time.

Diller-Odell knocked down several three pointers in the third quarter to maintain a safe lead. They would hold off Sterling in the second half for the 47-32 win.

Mohr led Diller-Odell with 15 points while McLaughlin had 12, Warren had nine, Arnold and Sutton had four each and Scheele had three.

Sterling was led by Hier's 11 points and 14 rebounds while Jasa had seven points, Keeler had six points, VanGroningen had five points and Dirks had three points.

Diller-Odell will be in action again Tuesday night when they travel to Johson-Brock. Sterling will travel to Meridian on Tuesday.
