The Sterling Lady Jets claimed the MUDECAS B Division Championship Saturday with a win over Southern.

The Lady Jets defeated Southern 47-41 in overtime to claim the title.

Neither team led by more than six points the entire game and there were many lead changes.

Sterling's Morgan Haner opened the game's scoring with a free throw, but Southern's Jayme Ullman and Kaylee Klover came back with baskets to make it 4-1.

A putback basket by Sterling's Carly Wenzl made it 4-3, but a baseline out of bounds play to Klover finished the first quarter scoring, making it 6-3, Southern.

Southern's Allee Jo Wieden started the second quarter scoring with a basket. Wenzl answered that with a three pointer to make it 8-6.

Two free throws by Claire Hookstra was answered by a basket from Haner to make it 10-8, Southern. Colby Theis had four points in the post towards the end of the first half, but Southern's Mariah Murphy finished the scoring with two free throws, giving the Raiders a 12-10 lead at half time.

Theis immediately tied the game to start the third quarter, but Klover came back with a putback basket to make it 16-14. Another basket by Theis tied the game again. The two teams traded a free throw each and then Klover and Theise both scored in the post to keep the game tied at 19-19.

Sterling would got on a 6-0 run thanks to baskets from Sydney Huls, Carly Wenzl and Belle Haner, giving them the biggest lead of the game at 25-19.

Jayme Ullman finished the third quarter scoring with a basket, making it 25-21 entering the fourth quarter.

Klover cut the deficit to two with a basket at the beginning of the fourth quarter. A basket by Murphy was answered by Malayna Wingert's basket and Sheanna Stolz' jumper, making it 31-25.

Klover then scored four straight points to cut the deficit to two at 31-29. Theis extended the lead back to four with a score in the post, but Ullman answered with a three pointer to make it 33-32.

Late in the fourth quarter, Wenzl hit a free throw to make it a two point game, but Klover came back with two free throws to make it 34-34 with 43 seconds left in regulation.

Wingert hit a free throw with 23 seconds left to get Sterling a one point lead, but Klover answered witha  free throw to tie it again.

Sterling would missed a free throw late and Southern's last shot attempt missed its mark, forcing overtime.

Madi Zvolanek opened the overtime period with a jumper for Southern, but Wenzl came back with a backdoor basket. Jo Wieden then scored for Southern to make it 39-37.

Theis scored three straight points to give Sterling a 40-39 lead. One free throw by Haner and two free throws by Huls made it 43-39.

Klover scored in the post to make it 43-41 with 53 seconds left, but Wenzl hit four free throws down the stretch to give Sterling the 47-41 win.

Theis led the way for Sterling with 17 points while Wenzl had 14. Haner, Wingert and Huls had four points each while Belle Haner and Stolz had two points each.

Klover had 20 points for Southern while Ullman had seven, Wieden and Murphy had four each, Zvolanek and Hookstra had two each and Leach had one.
