WAVERLY -- A hot shooting Norris Lady Titans was able to hold of Beatrice and claim the B5 Subdistrict Championship Tuesday night in Waverly.
Norris will play in a district final with a chance to go to the Class B State Tournament. Beatrice's wildcard points will also allow them to play in a district final with a chance to go to state.
Norris' Taryn Tracy got the scoring with a three pointer but Michaela Jones came back with a basket to make it 3-2 early.
Tracy answered with another three pointer, but a basket by Beatrice's Carley Leners made it 6-4.
Brianna Stai's basket extended the Norris lead back to four, but Leners scored again to make it 8-6.
Norris scored the next five points to take a 13-6 lead. Tracy had a free throw, Stai had a basket and Rylie Bryant had a basket during the Titan run.
Haley Sexton finally ended the run with a basket, but back to back three pointers by Molly Ramsey and Tracy made it 19-8 and a free throw by Tracy extended the lead to 10.
Jones finished the first quarter with a three point play to make it 20-11 after one.
Leners opened the second quarter with a three pointer, but Addie Barnard picked up her third foul shortly after, forcing her to sit the rest of the first half.
Two free throws by Tracy, and five straight points by Ramsey extended the Norris lead to 27-14.
A three pointer by Leners and two free throws by Jones cut the deficit to eight at 27-19.
Tracy's free throw ended the run and Bryant's basket extended the lead back to 30-19. Jones ended the first half with two jumpers to make it 30-23 at half time.
Tracy picked up where she left off and hit a three pointer to open the third quarter. Baskets by Bryant, Valerie Gabel and Tracy extended the Norris lead to 39-23.
Beatrice's Mak Hatcliff finally ended the run with a three pointer and a basket by Jones made it 39-28.
Madelyn Ramsey and Leners traded three pointers to make it 42-31 after three quarters.
Jones opened the fourth quarter with a basket to cut the deficit to nine. A Bryant free throw made it 43-33. A jumper by Leners made it 43-35, but a three pointer by Molly Ramsey extended the Titan lead back to 46-35.
Another three pointer by Hatcliff and a fast break layup by Jones made it 46-40, forcing Norris to take a timeout with less than four minutes left in the game.
Another Leners basket cut the deficit to four, but two free throws by Tracy gave Norris a 48-42 lead with 1:22 left in the game.
Jones was able to score on a jump shot to cut the deficit to four, but Bryant came back with two free throws to make it 50-44 with 56.8 seconds left in the game.
Lenrs made a three pointer with less than 10 seconds left to make it 51-47, but it wouldn't be enough as Norris went on to win 51-47.
Leners led the way for Beatrice with 20 points while Jones had 19, Hatcliff had six and Sexton had two.
Tracy had 19 for the Titans while Madelyn Ramsey had 12, Bryant had nine, Molly Ramsey had five, Stai had four and Gabel had two.
