DEWITT -- Tri County scored first Thursday night but it was all Diller-Odell after that.
The Griffins defeated the Trojans 45-7 in the last game of the regular season. Diller-Odell's record improves to 6-2 after the win.
It was Tri County that struck first Thursday. They recovered a Diller-Odell fumble and took over at the Griffin 10 yard line. Three plays later, Cooper Smith rumbled in from five yards out to give Tri County a 7-0 lead.
The lead was short-lived, though. On the ensuing kickoff, Peyton Mohr returned it all the way for a touchdown. Tyson Landenberger scored on the two point conversion, giving the Griffins an 8-7 lead.
The Trojans drove it into Diller-Odell territory on their next drive, but a 42 yard field goal attempt fell short, giving the ball back to the Griffins at their own 15 yard line.
William McLaughlin got the drive started with a 34 yard run and four plays later, Ryan Arnold ran it in for a touchdown. Landenberger scored the two pointer, extending the Diller-Odell lead to 16-7.
Diller-Odell's defense held on the next drive and they took over again at the Tri County 31 after a good punt return. A six play scoring drive was capped by Peyton Mohr's nine yard touchdown run, making it 22-7.
Diller-Odell scored again on their next drive. Arnold capped a six play scoring drive with a 17 yard touchdown run. A 25-yard pass from Arnold to Mohr was the longest play of the drive. Mohr made the two point conversion, extending the lead to 30-7.
Diller-Odell then recovered a Tri County fumble, setting up one last touchdown before half time. A 30 yard touchdown pass from Arnold to Bryston Warren. William McLaughlin scored the two pointer, making it 38-7 at half time.
Tyson Landenberger scored the lone touchdown of the second half, running it in from nine yards out, making the final score 45-7.
Ryan Arnold was 6 for 10 passing for 111 yards and two touchdowns and ran the ball five times for 40 yards and two touchdowns. McLaughlin had 10 carries for 76 yards while Landenberger had five carries for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Mohr had three receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown while Warren had two receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown. Shane Sutton had one reception for 34 yards.
For Tri County, Creighton Niemeyer was 4 for 10 passing for 46 yards and had 13 carries for 35 yards. Cooper Smith had 22 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown while Trevin Williams had seven runs for 37 yards. Williams also had three receptions for 35 yards.
Tri County's season ends after the loss. They finished with a 1-7 record. Diller-Odell will wait to see their playoff destination.
