WYMORE -- The Freeman football team went on the road Friday night to beat Southern, improving their record to 3-0 on the season.
The Falcons defeated the Raiders 48-21 in Wymore.
They jumped on top early, outscoring Southern 28-7 in the first quarter.
Logan Anderson got things rolling when he scored on a 34-yard touchdown run with 11:18 left in the quarter, making it 7-0 early.
Freeman got the ball back and with 8:04 left in the quarter, Lane Cacek was able to score from two yards out, making it 14-0.
It didn't take long for the Falcons to score again. They got the ball back and Jacob Gramann was able to find Blake Kastanek for a 75 yard touchdown pass to run the score to 21-0.
Southern would cut the lead to 21-7 when Drake Adams recovered a fumble and ran it in from one yard out.
Freeman came back with a 36 yard touchdown pass from Gramann to Kastanek as time expired in the first quarter, making it 28-7.
Freeman added to the lead late in the second quarter. A one yard touchdown run by Tyler Adams made it 35-7.
Southern scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass from Adams to Braxton Bradley with 55 seconds left in the half. The PAT blocked, making it 35-13 at half time.
Neither team would score in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Lane Cacek scored on a five yard touchdown run to make it 42-13.
Southern's Dalton Johnson came back and scored on a 25-yard touchdown run with 3:37 left in the game.
Freeman's Gabe Eisenbarth capped the game's scoring with a 77 yard touchdown run, making the final score 48-21.
Gramann was 7 for 15 passing for 181 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also ran the ball 13 times for 58 yards.
Cacek led the rushing attack with 25 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Anderson had 14 carries for 122 yards and one touchdown. Eisenbarth had the one carry for 77 yards and a touchdown. Adam's one rushing attempt resulted in a one yard touchdown run.
Kastanek had two receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Anderson had three receptions for 33 yards and Michael Gronewold had two receptions for 32 yards.
Kastanek also had an interception in the game while Austin Adams had a fumble recovery. Gage Rogman had a sack.
For Southern, Drake Adams was 6 for 19 passing for 147 yards and one touchdown. He also had an interceptions. Adams also ran the ball 10 times for 52 yards.
Dalton Johnson ran the ball six times for 41 yards and a touchdown. Jace Hunt ran five times for 40 yards.
Braxton Bradley had one reception for 60 yards and a touchdown. Trevin Saathoff had two receptions for 55 yards and Payton Salts had two receptions for 29 yards.
Braden Klover had 20 tackles while Drake Adams had 14 tackles. Klover and Josh Lundstedt had a sack each. Dalton Johnson had one interception while Drake Adams had a fumble recovery.
Freeman is 3-0 and will host Fillmore Central on Friday. Southern is 0-3 and will host Johnson County Central.
