FIRTH — After an extended halftime for Norris against Crete due to weather conditions Friday, the Titans put together a 14-point fourth quarter and two timely interceptions to down the Cardinals 35-19 at Norris High School on Saturday.

“It was different, let's put it that way,” Norris coach Jim Jacobsen said. “I've been in a couple of those and they are all odd. You always wonder just how your kids are going to respond. We told them the team that comes out and responds correctly is going to have the upper hand.”

After Norris took a 28-19 lead in the fourth quarter, Crete's offense started to threaten, reaching midfield before Norris picked off Cardinal quarterback Zach Fye and returned it near the Crete 12-yard line.

Norris' Austin Schultz capped the turnover with a 12-yard run for his third touchdown of the game and put a cap on the scoring.

“They answered the call and took care of it,” Jacobsen said. “We finally got some turnovers on defense when we needed to.”

Norris answered the bell once again, pressuring Fye on Crete's final drive into a second interception in the fourth quarter, and the Titans ran out the clock.

Crete took a brief 19-14 lead at the resumption of Saturday's game.
