LINCOLN -- The Beatrice boys golf team traveled to Lincoln on Tuesday for the Lincoln Southwest Invite.
The Orangemen finished with a team score of 365, which tied them for 11th out of 14 teams. The entire field consisted of Class A schools except for Beatrice.
Graham Southwick led the way for the Orangemen. He shot a 42 on the front nine and a 45 on the back nine for an 18-hole score of 87. Both Andrew Paquette and Caleb McKernan shot a 49 on the front nine, but rebounded on the back with 42's for 18-hole scores of 91.
Trenton Jurgens finished with a 96 while Dakoda Freitag shot a 119.
Beatrice coach Dick Stuart said with districts coming up, it's good to be competing against good teams.
"We have some big meets coming up," Stuart said. "It's good to play against Class A competition."
Lincoln Southwest's Charlie Hillis won the met with a 73 while Luke Kliver of Norfolk also shot a 73. Cade McCallum of Grand Island finished third with a 75.
Lincoln Southwest was the team champion with a score of 308 while Norfolk was second at 318 and Millard West was third at 322.
The Orangemen will be in action again on Thursday when they host a dual with Norris at the Beatrice Country Club.
Beatrice will then travel to Covington Links on Tuesday for the River Cities Conference Tournament. Districts will take place in Waverly on May 16 and the Class B State Meet will be on May 23-24 at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln.
