FAIRBURY -- The Beatrice girls golf team finished runner-up at the Fairbury Invitational on Monday.
The Lady O finished with a team score of 435, which put them behind host team Fairbury's 431.
Seward finished third with a score of 439 while Syracuse was fourth at 472 and Heartland was fifth at 538. Crete and Tri County also competed, but had no team score.
Payton Neunaber finished fourth for the Lady O with a score of 101.
"Payton played well and finished with her best score of the year," said Beatrice coach Dick Stuart.
Mackenzie Barnard finished fifth with a score of 106. Blake Trusty finished seventh with a score of 110, while Sydney Southwick finished 13th with a 118 and Abby Jones finished 20th with a 128.
"It was nice for Mackenzie and Blake to finish in the top 10," Stuart said. "I know our team is still a little disappointed to finish with a 435. We have been playing much better the last couple of weeks and now we need to identify what we need to work on and get this fixed by Friday."
Fairbury was led by Sara Mitchell, who finished second with a 95. Shavara Kroeker finished eighth with a 110, Casey Nimmich finished 10th with a 111, Evie Schwab finished 12th with a 115 and Melia Mitchell finished 26th with a 139.
Tri County had a sixth place finisher in Ryan Sand, who shot a 107. Carissa Luewski finished 24th with a 137.
The individual champion was Kendra Placke from Seward, who finished with an 80.
Beatrice will be in action again Friday when they travel to the Crete Invite.
"The things we did wrong today are fixable things," Stuart said. "It will take some work, but they can do it."
