The Beatrice boys golf team finally got a home golf event in Tuesday at the Beatrice Country Club.
The Orangemen hosted Fairbury in a make-up dual that had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather earlier in the season.
Beatrice's team score of 161 was good enough to defeat the visiting Jeffs.
"It was nice to get to play a meet on our own course on a nice day," said Beatrice coach Dick Stuart. "We played pretty well, but still need to work on being more consistent."
Leading the way for Beatrice was Graham Southwick, who had the day's best score of 36. Finishing just three strokes behind him with a score of 39 was Andrew Paquette.
"Graham and Andrew had very good scores and had nothing more than a bogey on a hole," Stuart said.
Eli Havekost and Trenton Jurgens weren't too far behind the leaders -- each shooting a 43 while Bryant Jurgens rounded out the Orangemen scoring with a 49.
"Eli and Trenton were knocking on the door for a very good round also," Stuart said. "They just had a couple holes that we need to get better at. Bryant had a little trouble on the greens, but that is fixable."
Stuart said he was also happy with some of the scores his junior varsity players put up.
Fairbury was led by Dalton Petersen's 47 while Devin Wanamaker had a 67, Joe Melcher had a 68, Aden Watson had a 70 and Owen Blocher had a 72.
Beatrice will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to the York Invite. They will then see the Fairbury golfers again on Thursday, April 19 at the Fairbury Invite.
"We know going to York will be a good experience on Thursday and a step up in competition," Stuart said.
Beatrice will host their home invitational on Monday, April 23rd at the Beatrice Country Clubs.
Teams that will be competing in that Beatrice Invite include Aurora, Bennington, Creighton Prep, Crete, Elkhorn South, Fairbury, Fremont, Grand Island Northwest, Lincoln East, Lincoln Pius X, Lincoln Southwest, Millard North, Millard West, Nebraska City, Norris, Papillion-Lavista High, Papillion Lavista South, Platteview, Seward, Syracuse, Waverly and York.
There will be both a Class A and a Class B Division for the Beatrice Invite.
