Beatrice softball player Addison Barnard hit two home runs during the Lady Orange's season-opener.
The junior has not stop hitting home runs. On Saturday, Barnard hit three more homers in the River Cities Conference Tournament to tie the single-season all-class state record of 19.
Lincoln Southeast's Madison Otte set the state record last year with 19 homers.
Barnard, Beatrice's lead-off hitter, has five multi-homer games this year, including a two-homer performance against Omaha Skutt on Saturday.
Barnard's 19 homers are a Class B state record. With districts up next, Barnard will have a chance to take solo possession of the all-class state mark.
Beatrice went 1-2 on the day at the River Cities Conference Tournament. They opened with a 10-2 win over Omaha Mercy, but suffered a 10-2 loss to Omaha Skutt and a 10-5 loss to Omaha Gross.
In the win over Omaha Mercy, Ashton Sandman homered and singled while Mikayla Bletscher had a pair of singles. Barnard, Olivia Aden and Lexi Schwartz all had doubles while Jaci Berke, Arial Eggert and Hannah Lytle all singled.
Bailey Green picked up the win, giving up two earned runs on four hits while striking out six and walking two.
Both of Beatrice's runs against Omaha Skutt came via Barnard solo home runs. Aden, Berke, Whitney Schwisow and Schwartz all had a single each. Bailey Green suffered the loss in the circle.
Barnard also homered and singled against Omaha Gross. Schwisow had three hits including a double, Reganne Henning had two hits including a double, Schwartz had a double, Aden had two singles and Sandman and Green had a single each. Rylee Pangborn suffered the loss in the circle.
