The Beatrice Co-op swimming and diving were back in action Tuesday after the long holiday break.

The team, which consists of swimmers from Beatrice, Norris, Fairbury and Freeman, traveled to Hastings.

The girls team won 104-74 while the boys team fell 117-68. Beatrice Coach Marian Wallen said they were pleased with the performance considering they were coming off a long holiday break from competition.

"We always worry a little that the swimmers are out of routine," Wallen said. "Having many personal best performances and some new state qualifying times reassures us that our training plan is on track. Many of the younger and new swimmers are becoming a lot more comfortable in the water, which is helping their times drop."

It was the start of a difficult stretch for the Beatrice team as they have five meets in seven days.

"We are trying to keep everyone healthy and rested enough to perform well at each meet," Wallen said.
