LINCOLN -- The Beatrice boys tennis team traveled to the Lincoln Invite on Invite and found it tough going.
The Orangemen finished in seventh place as a team. Their best finisher was Sam Steffen, who picked up two wins in pool play of the No. 2 singles division.
"Sam played the kid from Columbus at the Elkhorn Invite," said Beatrice Coach Karen Dittbrenner. "He was able to pick up where he left off and came away with a more solid win this time. He also picked up a win over the Lincoln Christian player who had to withdraw due to breaking his arm during the match."
In No. 1 singles action, Dillon Damme picked up one win against Columbus, giving him a seventh place finish.
The No. 2 doubles team of Cole Crandall and Colt Dittbrenner defeated Columbus and picked up a seventh place finish.
Beatrice will be in action again on Thursday when they welcome state powerhouse Elkhorn South to Hannibal Park. They will then travel to the Omaha Skutt Invitational on Saturday.
