ODELL -- The Diller-Odell volleyball team came from behind to beat Tri County in five sets Tuesday night and reach the Pioneers Conference Championship game.
The Lady Griffins won 24-26, 18-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-6 at Diller-Odell High School.
With the win, they will now play Friday night against Class D1 No. 1 ranked Johnson-Brock.
Diller-Odell coach Kandice Jurgens said her team didn't play well.
"We came out tight, weren't talking enough and made a lot of unforced errors," Jurgens said. "I thought the girls showed a lot of resilience, though, in being down two sets, and coming back to win the next three to win the match."
Kirsten Bures led the way for Diller-Odell against the Trojans, pounding home 26 kills while Mackenzie Vitosh had 13 kills and Addison Heidemann had 10 kills.
Emily Swanson added six kills, Tori Smith had four kills and Hayley Denner had two kills. Heidemann had 43 assists.
Heidemann had six ace serves for Diller-Odell while Bures had three aces, Vitosh had two aces and Kyleigh Barnts had an ace.
Defensively, Bures had seven blocks while Smith and Vitosh had five blocks each. Bures and Barnts had 18 digs while Denner had 16 digs, Vitosh had 15 digs and Heidemann had 14 digs.
Jurgens said her team is young and will learn from being in a tough game with Tri County.
"After the second set we asked the girls who wanted the ball in their hands when the game was on the line," Jurgens said. "Also, we reminded them to quit playing not to lose, but rather play to win. I thought they responded well, but we still did not play to our ability. We did enough to get the win and move on to the Championship game."
The Lady Trojans were led by Madison Freese, who had 14 kills. Shayna Lijewski had nine kills, Hannah Strein had seven kills, Kailey Weichel had six kills, Celena Chavez had two kills and Shae Wattjes, Taylor Cammack and Brianna Connelly had one kill each.
Chavez had 21 assists while Krista Reynolds had 10 assists. Wattjes had 29 digs while Freese and Weichel had 22 digs each.
