Rainy conditions and wet fields have forced yet another delay in the B-3 District Softball Tournament.
The tournament was originally slated for Thursday and Friday, but rain bumped the start of the tournament to Friday. More rain overnight has forced yet another postponement untill Saturday. Also, the tournament will now be a single elimination tournament.
The Lady O (14-17) is the No. 6 seed in the tournament and will open the tournament against third-seeded Crete (21-8) at 2 p.m. on Saturday. If they win, they will play at 6 p.m. against the winner of the 4 p.m. game between second-seeded Seward (17-8) and seventh-seeded Norris (11-18). A loss would eliminate Beatrice.
On the other side of the bracket, fourth-seeded Waverly (16-7) opens against fifth-seeded Wahoo (11-13) at 2 p.m.. The winner of that will play at 4 p.m. against top-seeded York (25-2), who has an opening round bye.
The championship game will be played at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Beatrice has played Crete once during the regular season and suffered a 9-0 loss at Crete on Sept. 18.
During the tournament, sophomore Addison Barnard will be looking to break the All-Class single season home run record. She currently has 19 home runs, which is tied with Madison Otte's record, which was set last year.
