RALSTON -- The Beatrice volleyball team traveled to Ralston on Thursday and suffered a defeat to the Rams.

Ralston beat the Lady O in straight sets 25-21, 25-17, 25-13. With the loss, Beatrice's record falls to 12-10 on the season.

Offensively, Kacie Heidbrink led the way for Beatrice with 11 kills while Devyn Burroughs had eight kills, Ally Thavenet had five kills and Mackenzie Osborne and Jessica Fujan had one kill each. Osborne had 22 assists.

From the service line, Haley Sexton had two aces while Thavenet and Osborne had an ace each.

Heidbrink and Burroughs had two blocks each while Monica Fujan and Jessica Fujan had a block each. Sexton had 21 digs while Thavenet had 17 digs.

Beatrice will be in action again on Monday when they host Wahoo at the Ozone.

Meridian keeps rolling

The Class D-1 No. 2 ranked Meridian Mustangs just keep on winning.

Since a loss to D-1 No. 1 ranked Johnson-Brock in the MUDECAS Championship in mid September, Meridian has rattled off 11 straight wins and are now 20-1 on the season.

Their victims on Tuesday night were Shelby-Rising City and Osceoloa. They swept both teams.

They defeated Shelby-Rising City 25-19, 25-16. Halley Pribyl had 10 kills for the Mustangs while Rylee Pieper had seven kills, Hailey Schafer had three kills and Josiee Sobotka and Lauren DeLord had two kills each. Erin Johnson had 19 assists.

Meridian had seven ace serves in the match, including two each from Schafer and Jaicee Sobotka and one each from Johnson, Josiee Sobotka and Pribyl.

Defensively, DeLord and Schafer had a block each while Jaicee Sobotka and Erin Johnson had 11 digs each. Pribyl and Breanna Miller had 10 digs each.

Meridian was able to defeat Osceola 25-9, 25-12. They got nine kills from Pribyl while Pieper had six kills, Josiee Sobotka had four kills, Schafer and DeLord had three kills each and Miller and Johnson had one kill each. Johnson also had 23 assists.

Pribyl had three ace serves while Pieper and Josiee Sobotka had an ace serve each.

DeLord had two blocks and Shafer had one block. Pribyl had 15 digs, Johnson had 13 digs and Miller had 11 digs.

The Mustangs will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to a triangular at Giltner.
