SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- The Beatrice softball team split a triangular on Saturday in South Sioux City.

The Lady O beat host team South Sioux City 16-0, but fell to Omaha Duchesne 10-8.

Against South Sioux City, Beatrice led 4-0 early before exploding for 12 runs in the fourth inning.

Jaci Berke pitched the first three innings, giving up no runs on no hits while striking gout three. Rylee Pangborn pitched a perfect fourth inning.

Offensively, Addison Barnard had three hits, including a home run, two doubles and seven RBI's. She also scored three runs.

Lexi Schwartz had two hits, including a double and an RBI. Adding a single each was Whitney Schwisow, Ashton Sandman, Rylee Pangborn, Reagan Delabar, Reganne Henning and Carley Leners.

Against Duchesne, Beatrice fell behind 3-1 early. Duchesne scored two runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 5-1. Beatrice scored seven runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-5 lead, but Duchesne came back with five runs in the sixth inning to win 10-8.

Barnard had two triples, a single, two runs scored and an RBI. Ashton Sandman and Bailey Green each had two hits including a double. Berke and Arial Eggert had two singles each while Olivia Aden, Whitney Schwisow and Carley Leners had a single each.

Bailey Green pitched the first five innings and struck out one. Berke pitched a scoreless sixth inning and got a strikeout.

The Beatrice defense had three errors in the game.

Beatrice coach Dennis Dodge said he was pleased with how the team hit on Saturday.

"Our defense is still making too many errors and lack consistency," Dodge said. "If we can execute better in a couple areas, we can compete with any team."

The Lady O will be in action again Tuesday when they host York at Hannibal Park in Beatrice.

"We face some big challenges facing highly rated York, Seward and Elkhorn as well as some Class A teams," Dodge said.
