Palmyra was punched its ticket to the MUDECAS B Division Championship game with a win over Pawnee City Tuesday night.
The Panthers defeated the Indians in straight sets 25-13, 25-17. Palmyra’s record improves to 7-0 on the season while Pawnee City’s drops to 4-7.
With the win, Palmyra will play in the championship at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night at the Truman Center against the winner of Tuesday’s late match between Tri County and Sterling. That match wasn’t over by press time Tuesday night. For those results, see Tuesday’s Beatrice Daily Sun.
Palmyra advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals by defeating Parkview Christian in two sets on Monday. Pawnee City defeated Southern in two sets to advance to Tuesday’s semifinal.
In the consolation bracket of the B Division, fifth-seeded Southern defeated eighth-seeded Parkview Christian 25-11, 25-3 and Johnson County Central defeated Lewiston in three sets 25-14, 20-25, 26-24
Southern will play against Johnson County Central at 1 p.m. Thursday in the consolation final of the B Division. Lewiston and Parkview Christian have been eliminated from the tournament.
