There's a reason Omaha Skutt Catholic is ranked No. 1 in Class B and they showed it Tuesday night in Beatrice.
Omaha Skutt is coming off a perfect 44-0 state championship season, but they did suffer two losses in the first week of this season to Papillion-LaVista and Omaha Marian.
They got back on track Tuesday night against Beatrice, beating the Lady O in three sets 25-13, 25-12, 25-14.
In the first set, Beatrice was able to hang with the SkyHawks for awhile, but they did build a 17-9 lead.
Beatrice will be in action again this Saturday when they play in the St. Wenceslaus Tournament.
The Lady O tried to gain momentum back when Ally Thavenet registered a kill and followed it up with an ace serve to make it 17-11.
Skutt went on to score the next three points to make it 20-11, which forced new Lady O volleyball coach Cara DeBuhr to take a time out.
Beatrice's Kacie Heidbrink scored two of the match's next three points to make it 21-13, but Omaha Skutt would rattle off four straight points to win the set 25-13.
Omaha Skutt vaulted out of the starting blocks in the second set, scoring the first six points before Heidbrink ended the run with a kill. Omaha Skutt would come back with three more points to make it 9-1.
Beatrice then had one of their best stretches of the match when they scored the next five points to make it 9-6. Jessica Fujan, Mariah Allen and Devyn Burroughs all had kills during that run.
Omaha Skutt scored the next three points to make it 12-6. Allen ended the run with a kill, but Skutt would then score the next four to make it 16-7, forcing a Beatrice timeout.
A kill by Allen out of the timeout made it 16-8. Two points by Omaha Skutt extended the lead back to 18-8.
Monica Fujan then registered a block kill and followed it up with an ace serve to make it 18-10.
Omaha Skutt scored seven of the next nine points, though, to go on and win the set 25-12.
In the third set, the two teams traded points early, but with the score 2-2, Omaha Skutt would score the next seven points to make it 9-2 and force a timeout.
They scored two more points after the timeout before Heidbrink and Fujan ended the run with a block, making it 11-3.
The Lady O found it difficult to string points together the rest of the way. With the score 17-6, they would manage to score fourth straight to make it 17-10, but that's all the closer they would get. Omaha Skutt went on to win the set 25-14.
