The Lords of Ventus motorcycle riding group is planning a fundraiser event Saturday in downtown Beatrice.

Saturday will mark the second year the group has hosted a Cage Free Bike Rodeo in town.

Group President Vinny D’Andrea said funds raised from the event will be used to install a bench downtown, and possibly a second one in a park.

“What we try to do is support military and families as much as we can,” he said. “Last year we gave to the local Veteran's Memorial Park and St. Judes. This year the intention is putting in benches to bring awareness and honor soldiers that have PTSD and have lost the battle.

“They’ve left the war but the battle hasn’t left them. We’re going to raise awareness of that.”

The group raised nearly $4,000 last year during the event with the help of key sponsors Pinnacle Bank, Twin Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Jim’s Carpet.

The event features a bike show, rodeo, drag races and other events, with a poker run to finish the event.

The bike rodeo will be Saturday at Charles Park in Beatrice. Registration is from noon to 2 p.m. and the event at the park lasts until 5 p.m. when the poker run starts. The run ends at the Legion Club in Beatrice where an after-party is planned.
