The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash near the Jefferson and Saline County line Tuesday afternoon has died, accordingly to posts on social media and other media outlets. 

Clayton Brandt, 33, of Fairbury, died as a result of injuries sustained when his vehicle collided with a semi-truck pulling an anhydrous ammonia tanker.

Emergency crews from Jefferson and Saline County responded to reports of a crash on Highway 15 near the Jefferson/Saline County line Tuesday shortly after 1 p.m.

The weather conditions at the time in the area were poor, visibility from ground fog was approximately a quarter of a mile to less than 100 yards.

Upon arrival of emergency services, a semi-truck with an anhydrous ammonia tanker and a mid-sized SUV had crashed nearly head on. The semi-truck came to rest upright in a field on the east side of the road to the north of the crash site. The SUV came to rest in the west ditch. 

The semi-truck was a 2015 Freightliner pulling an anhydrous ammonia tanker, driven by Adam Gordon, 33, of Juniata. Gordon's vehicle was northbound on Highway 15. He was transported to Jefferson Community Health and Life by Daykin Rescue where he was checked released.

The SUV was a 2007 Pontiac Torrent driven by Brandt. Thevehicle was southbound on Highway 15 when it crashed nearly head on approximately 500 feet south of Y Road.
