Alcohol is suspected to have been in a factor in a rollover crash that killed a Kansas man in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County Dispatch was notified of a crash on Sunday that occurred just south of the junction of 714 Avenue and River Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, a press release stated deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office discovered a man later  identified as Cody W. Craig of Hanover, Kan. Craig was then treated by Jefferson County Ambulance District #33 and transported to Jefferson Community Health and Life where he was pronounced dead due to injuries related to the crash.

A second occupant of the vehicle was treated and transported from the scene by Jefferson County Ambulance and later transported to Lincoln by ambulance.

The press release stated that the car, a 2000 Buick Century, was traveling southbound on River Road when it left the roadway and rolled several times, ejecting both occupants from the vehicle. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and seat belts were not believed to be in use.

The crash remains under investigation at this time pending chemical tests and further investigation.
