Richard “Rick” Morris Bellows passed in peace at his home in Lincoln, Tues. April 30, 2019 at the age of 61. Rick was born on June 13, 1958 in Omaha to Richard “Dick” Bellows and Dorothy (Snyder) Bellows of Beatrice.
Rick graduated from Beatrice High School in 1976, receiving scholarships to Tarkio and Doane Colleges before attending University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His life-long career in the natural gas industry began in those early college years at Northern Natural Gas Beatrice and Palmyra, Enron, MidAmerican Energy, culminating in 40 years of celebrated service. He loved the outdoors, fresh air, mountains, nature, the geology behind the industry and his work.
Rick will be remembered as a devoted husband; a loving father, the best a son could ask for; a loyal son; a proud brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin; a sincere friend; a dedicated colleague and mentor; a caring youth sports coach. Rick's work ethic, selflessness, giving nature, love of others, teaching, passion for coaching the Lazers, matched his 6'4” stature. He is dearly missed.
Rick is survived by his adoring family; wife Connie (Schmidt) Bellows, son Lucas Bellows, mother Dorothy, sister Margaret (Mike) Meyer, sister Melissa (Mark) Decker, many extended family members. Preceded in death by his father Richard, brother John Bellows, grandparents Morris and Margaret Snyder and John and Elsie Bellows, uncle David Snyder, parents-in-law Lyle and Mary Ellen Schmidt, and brother-in-law David Schmidt.
