A Blue Springs man was arrested late Thursday night after authorities smelled drugs during a traffic stop in Beatrice.

Just before midnight on Thursday a Beatrice police officer on patrol observed a Pontiac Grand Prix driving south on the 200 block of South Sixth Street without visible registration.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on Bell Street and contacted the driver, identified as 18-year-old Dalton Parde, of Blue Springs.

According to arrest documents, Parde told the officer he had just purchased the vehicle, but was unable to provide a bill of sale, title or a driver’s license, and said he didn’t have insurance on the vehicle.

The officer confirmed that Parde’s license was suspended, and arrest documents note the officer could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue, a glass pipe with marijuana residue, and an open bottle of vodka.

Parde allegedly told police all the items were his and was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine, driving under suspension, minor in possession, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
