A Beatrice woman was sentenced to serve one year in jail Wednesday in two cases in Gage County District Court.
Sonja A. Norman, 39, was sentenced in one case for attempted possession of a controlled substance and third-degree assault to serve six month in the Gage County Detention Center on each count, to be served concurrently.
She was also sentenced in a separate case to six month in jail for second-degree forgery and theft by deception, to be served concurrently to each other, but consecutive to the other case, amounting in a total sentence of one year in jail.
She was previously sentenced to probation in the drug case, though it was later revoked. She was initially arrested in the case in November 2015 after deputies invested an assault allegation.
Deputies were granted consent to search her residence while investigating the case, and found a pipe in a dresser drawer.
In the other case, Beatrice police arrested Norman in January after she used a man’s check book without permission to make purchases at Walmart totaling $369, as well as a hotel in Tulsa, Okla.
