Beatrice police arrested a man with multiple warrants for his arrest following a brief pursuit Sunday.
Just after midnight on Sunday, Beatrice police observed a gray Pontiac not come to a complete stop at the intersection of North 13th and Dorsey streets. The vehicle proceeded south on North 13th Street and allegedly increased its speed as the officer attempted to pursue.
Arrest documents state that the officer followed the vehicle to Homestead Village apartments, where the driver fled in an unknown direction. Police and deputies searched the area for around 10 minutes. The suspect was eventually found, and identified as 28-year-old Joshua Weeks.
Weeks was found with a female who has an active protection order against him. Documents state Weeks also had three active arrest warrants from Gage County.
Weeks and the woman allegedly admitted to being in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
An inventory was taken of the vehicle, and a white crystalized substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was found.
Weeks was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, obstruction of justice and his third offense of violating a protection order.
