More than 200 cattle and a horse were found dead on a Fillmore County farm during a livestock neglect investigation, according to a Nebraska State Patrol news release Thursday.

Investigators with the Nebraska Brand Committee, the State Patrol and the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office discovered the dead animals while serving a search warrant at a farm near Exeter.

More than 200 additional cattle were found in questionable-to-poor condition. Those cattle were taken to a nearby farm for care.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Nebraska Brand Committee is also investigating other reports of livestock theft and Nebraska Livestock Brand Act violations, the release stated.
